As part of the MCI Alumni & Friends lecture series, the Entrepreneurial School® was delighted to welcome Brigitte Zypries, long-standing Federal Minister of Justice and Economic Affairs & Energy and angel investor, as a digital guest.

Brigitte Zypries, born in 1953, was Federal Minister of Justice from 2002 to 2009 and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Energy from 2017 to 2018. After a career in administration, the lawyer first became a civil servant state secretary in the Lower Saxony Ministry for Women, Labor and Social Affairs and from 1998 to 2002 in the Federal Ministry of the Interior.  From 2013 to 2017, she was Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy. From 2005 to 2017, the SPD politician represented the Darmstadt constituency in the Bundestag.

Since retiring from active politics in March 2018, Brigitte Zypries has been working as an angel investor. She has invested in various start-ups and is involved in encourage ventures and Auxxo. She is an ombudswoman for various associations and organizations. Brigitte Zypries is also the editor of the Zeitschrift für Rechtspolitik and the DUP Unternehmensmagazin and is on the supervisory board of Betterplace. Since 2015, she has been President of the German-Israeli Lawyers' Association and Chair of the Advisory Board of ELNET and the German-Israeli Future Forum.
