Born in 1986 to a French mother and an Austrian father, Christophe Kohl grew up in Tyrol. During his school years, he was involved in the European Youth Parliament (MEP) and gained his first journalistic experience during internships at the Tiroler Tageszeitung newspaper and the ORF regional studio in Tyrol.
After graduating from high school, he moved to Vienna in 2005 to study journalism at the FH der WKW. In July 2007, Christophe Kohl began working as an editor at Ö3, where he reported several times on the Oscar and Golden Globe awards in Los Angeles and interviewed numerous actors and directors such as Steven Spielberg, Meryl Streep, Brad Pitt, Jennifer Lawrence and Tom Cruise. He was also responsible for special programs such as “Ö3 am Life Ball” and as an early editor for the “Ö3 Wecker”.
In October 2015, Christophe Kohl moved to the ORF office in Paris as a correspondent. There he reported on the attacks on the Bataclan concert hall and the surrounding bars, the 2017 French presidential and National Council elections, the Paris Climate Change Conference and the 2016 European Football Championships in France.
He joined the ORF team in the USA on July 1, 2019.
