It covers a wide range of topics, including ethical leadership in healthcare, legal frameworks in healthcare, social and healthcare systems in international comparison, quality and process management, and health economics

Students acquire the knowledge and skills to prepare decisions in the healthcare sector and to make well-founded, ethically reflected decisions that take into account the legal framework of the healthcare system.

The programme provides a solid foundation of theoretical and practical knowledge to help students understand the specifics of healthcare management.


Target group

This certificate programme in Healthcare Management is designed for healthcare professionals, entrepreneurs and individuals who want to develop their knowledge and skills to become the next generation of healthcare leaders.

This programme provides participants with a comprehensive understanding and the tools to understand, navigate and influence the economic and political dimensions of healthcare.

Upon completion of the module

Ethical Leadership in Healthcare: participants

  • understand the challenge of dealing with ethical dilemmas in healthcare;
  • learn the importance of continuous ethical reflection and the application of ethical principles to real-life situations in healthcare management.

Legal framework conditions in the healthcare sector: participants

  • will be able to recognise, describe and explain key legal frameworks in healthcare;
  • will be able to establish links between legal regulations in the healthcare sector and organisational interests.

Social and healthcare systems in international comparison: participants

  • know the structure and functioning of healthcare systems;
  • understand how different actors (e.g. hospitals, social institutions, insurance companies, governments) work together to provide healthcare;
  • will be able to compare the effectiveness (quality of outcomes) and efficiency (utilisation of resources) of different systems;
  • have strategies to help shape the increase in efficiency, quality and sustainability of healthcare systems.

Quality and process management in healthcare: participants

  • know the basic concepts of quality management in healthcare;
  • understand how quality management contributes to improving patient outcomes and increasing operational efficiency;
  • know methods and tools to analyse processes, identify bottlenecks and develop effective solutions;
  • will be able to develop strategies for introducing new processes, technologies or organisational changes.

Health Economics and Policy: participants

  • know the economic principles and fundamentals of healthcare;
  • understand the processes for obtaining market access and regulatory approval for services and products in the healthcare sector;
  • know methods for cost-benefit assessment, effectiveness analyses and benefit assessment of medical innovations;
  • understand the interactions between health economics and sustainable health (‘green & sustainable health’).
