Dedicated to “Excellence and innovation: the challenges faced by tomorrow’s smart companies”, the 14th South Tyrolean Economic Forum attracted 400 high-ranking guests to the town of Brixen to attend a range of inspiring lectures. In addition to the international program, the event also offered the unique opportunity to make and maintain contact with decision makers from Italy, Germany, and Austria.

Following the welcome address by South Tyrolean Governor and Economic Councilor Arno Kompatscher, lecturers from all over the world presented an interesting program:

The speakers and organizers of the event agree: pushing boundaries, both geographically and mentally, as well as focusing on continuous innovation are the only way to achieve long-term success. A company’s performance has to be exceptional on many different levels.

  • President Emeritus of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, thus spoke about innovation in Europe
  • while the successful young entrepreneur Dominik Schiener, born in South Tyrol, demonstrated the possibilities of cryptocurrency.
  • Another topic discussed at the forum was the Generation Y’s situation on the labor market. Federica Fasoli, head of human resources for the southern European division of Siemens and in charge of 8,000 employees, provided advice on how to help employees develop their full potential.
  • Markus Tomaschitz, who is responsible for 10,000 employees as global vice president of human resources at the AVL List Ltd. engineering company, presented personnel procurement as the most central task of management.
  • Andreas König, an expert on cloud-based technologies, and since May 2015 CEO of the international engineering company TeamViewer, highlighted the opportunities of digitalization.

The annual South Tyrolean Economic Forum is hosted by Management Center Innsbruck (MCI) in collaboration with the South Tyrolean entrepreneurs’ association Unternehmerverband Südtirol (UVS), the Südtiroler Wirtschaftszeitung weekly paper, the publishing company Business Bestseller, and the Südstern network for South Tyroleans abroad.
