An exemplary cooperation between a leading South Tyrolean food expert and MCI Management Center Innsbruck is coming to fruition. It has been almost three years since the partnership was formed to give students practical insights, promote talents in food technology and mechatronics, and provide them with interesting job opportunities. Particularly gifted students now also have the opportunity to be awarded a Dr. Schär Excellence Scholarship. Two MCI students just received the highly-coveted award:

  • Daniel Abram started his part-time Master’s degree program in Mechatronics & Smart Technologies at MCI in the 2017/18 winter term. His Bachelor’s thesis in Mechatronics deals with the issue of experimental modal analysis. Abram has already been awarded several excellence scholarships at MCI.
  • Sandra Dalvai is currently finishing her Master’s degree in Food Technology & Nutrition at MCI. Dalvai stands out due to her exceptional commitment: in summer 2017, she participated in a third-party funded research project on biochemical analysis and product development in the gourmet food industry; in winter 2017/18, she spent a semester abroad at National Pingtung University of Science and Technology.
  • Lukas Luggin is a Bachelor’s student about to complete his studies in Food & Bioresource Technology at MCI. He is currently doing an internship at Dr. Schär, where he also plans to finish his Bachelor’s thesis. He spent a semester abroad at National University of Singapore, one of the most renowned universities in Asia, and has already received an excellence scholarship at MCI.

Katrin Pohl, human resources marketing expert at Dr. Schär, explains the award criteria: “All applicants for the Dr. Schär Excellence Scholarship went through a thorough assessment procedure. The final decision was based not only on the candidates’ study achievements, but also on their social skills as well as knowledge of the Italian language. The selected winners fulfill our requirements in an exceptional way: congratulations!”

Katrin Bach, head of the MCI Master’s degree program in Food Technology & Nutrition, praises the partnership: “We are proud to have Dr. Schär, an excellent partner from the food manufacturing industry, support us as well as our students.” Andreas Mehrle, head of the MCI Department of Mechatronics, adds: “As Entrepreneurial School® we are particularly committed to providing our students with practical experience during their studies. On that note, we would like to thank the entire Dr. Schär team for the successful collaboration.”

The family-owned business Dr. Schär was founded in 1982 in South Tyrol, Italy. The Dr. Schär business group specializes in developing, producing, and distributing dietary food products for special dietary requirements.
