Research in the field of Family Business impresses jury - Victory in the category of "Tourism Industry"
The final round of the Austrian Tourism Research Award "Tourissimus" recently resulted in renewed success for the Entrepreneurial School®: Anika Stärk, a graduate of the MCI Master's program "Entrepreneurship & Tourism", won the category of "Tourism and Tourism Management in Family Businesses". More than 29 candidates from 9 institutions participated in the rigorous hearings of the expert jury.
Anika Stärk's master's thesis deals with leadership skills and their relationship with the typical constellation in family businesses, where owners and family members play a very special role as managers. MCI professor Anita Zehrer, who supervised the Master's thesis, praises the research, which "deals with a practical, topical and important topic for family businesses". Methodologically, this is an individual case study in which a coordinated mix of methods is used.
MCI tourism director Hubert Siller sees the consistent efforts of MCI's degree programs to provide excellent quality in teaching and research once again confirmed. "My sincere congratulations to everyone who has contributed to this recent success, first and foremost to our graduate Anika Stärk, to her supervisor and to the entire team."
The Tourissimus prize is awarded annually by the Austrian Society for Applied Tourism Research (ÖGAF). Individual prizes are awarded in the categories "Tourism Industry", "Marketing & Destination Management" and "Sustainability in Tourism".
