Named after one of the founding fathers of the European Union, Jean Monnet, the European Union supports professorships specializing in EU studies through its Erasmus+ program. MCI professor Markus Frischhut, holder of a Jean Monnet Chair from 2016 to 2019, has once again been awarded a Jean Monnet Professorship from 2019 to 2021, focusing on ethics and values with a particular focus on aspects of digitization to be created.

Planned activities within the scope of the chair include relevant courses and research projects as well as extracurricular workshops for all MCI students and incoming students alike. In addition, joint projects with schools and adult education are planned.

The Jean Monnet Chair, directed by Markus Frischhut, fits seamlessly into the mission of the Entrepreneurial School® and its responsibility to society. Among other things, the MCI has been a member of the UN Global Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) since 2011.

"In the meantime, law and ethics have become inextricably linked complexes of topics, which are fueled not least by the progress of digitalization, and are constantly raising new questions. As part of my Jean Monnet professorship, I will also examine the role of values in the relationship between citizens and the EU, and at the same time share these findings with a broad public on an ongoing basis," explains Markus Frischhut about the orientation of the Jean Monnet Chair in terms of content.

Ralf Geymayer, Head of the International Business & Law Department, expresses his joy; "Further funding of the Jean Monnet Chair by the European Commission is a great endorsement of the path we have taken in regard to ethics, values & digitization, which are vital to society. My sincere thanks go to FH-Prof. Markus Frischhut, who made this success possible together with the Department of International Business & Law team. "

In the same vein, MCI-Rector Andreas Altmann says; "I am delighted that the outstanding achievements of Markus Frischhut and the entire MCI team are clearly reflected here. Congratulations to all those involved. "
