Sabine Mertens, Franz Pegger and Michael Meister receive MCI Teaching Awards 2019/20 | Excellent teaching at MCI also online.
In recognition of their outstanding achievements in teaching, three MCI professors received the MCI Teaching Award again this year. The award is based on the students' course evaluations. Particularly in times of online teaching, it is a special achievement that students rate the good structuring and the comprehensible and transparent presentation of course content positively.
The MCI Teaching Award 2019/20 goes to Sabine Mertens, who works in the Department of Tourism and is receiving the award for the second time; Prof. Franz Pegger, who is receiving the award for the third time for his outstanding teaching in law, accounting, bookkeeping and taxation on various courses at the MCI; as well as Dr. Michael Meister, MSc, who teaches in the Department of Environmental, Process and Energy Engineering and who received his MCI professorship in 2020.
Claudia Mössenlechner, Deputy Head of the Academic Council at MCI, held this years’ award ceremony virtually: "The winners of the MCI Teaching Award in 2019/20 have impressively demonstrated that teaching staff at MCI can inspire students for their subject - and do so online. Students particularly appreciate their ability to present content in a structured, comprehensible and transparent manner, as well as their engaging teaching style, personal commitment and ability to inspire enthusiasm for the subject."
MCI Teaching Award
MCI’s Academic Council established the Teaching Award in 2015 in order to make excellent achievements in teaching visible. The award is presented annually to the three best-rated teachers based on the assessment of their overall ranking of the evaluation results by students.
Our students share their experiences and give insights into courses, projects, and student life in the vibrant Alpine city of Innsbruck.
