English is not only the most widespread language around the world and the international language of tourism par excellence, it is now also a daily working language in many local businesses.

Considering this development, MCI will be offering the established Bachelor's degree program in Entrepreneurship, Tourism & Leisure Business as an English branch of study in addition to the existing offering, starting in fall 2022.

"We are sensing lively demand for an English-language branch of study, especially among local youth and from Austrian tourism businesses. This will enable us to deal more intensively with international topics and to involve teachers, students and partner universities from all over the world in our study program," explains MCI Rector Andreas Altmann.

The new English-language branch of study not only strengthens internationality, but also offers elective modules in a variety of subjects. Those modules will also be expanded in the German-language branch of study. At their core, both branches of study focus on business management, marketing and sustainable tourism and leisure management, as well as two mandatory foreign languages. In addition, the 6-semester, business-oriented tourism degree program offers a mandatory professional internship in Austria or abroad as well as a semester abroad at one of MCI's numerous international partner universities.

"Tourism & Leisure Management will continue to be a booming and exciting field of work in the future, offering young people attractive career prospects at home and abroad. Travel in its various facets and dimensions is part of our lives and will be more valuable than ever, especially in the post-Covid era," says Hubert Siller, Head of the MCI Department of Tourism & Leisure Business.
