In recognition of outstanding achievements in teaching, the MCI Academic Council has been presenting the Teaching Award annually since 2015. Faculty members are automatically and comprehensively nominated based on student evaluations of their courses. This year, the Teaching Award goes to Manuel Berger, Ayman Fouda, and Christine Fritz.
Manuel Berger, BSc MSc PhD | Medical & Health Technologies
Manuel Berger has been teaching and researching at MCI since 2014, with a significant focus on sports technology, medicine, and health since 2021. In 2022, he received the Research and Innovation Award from the City of Innsbruck and was shortlisted for the Wilhelm-Auerswald Prize of the College of Physicians in Vienna. Manuel Berger is esteemed for his professional expertise, motivating approach, and practical teaching methods, which deliver structured, comprehensible, and practically applicable knowledge to students.
Assoc. Prof. Ayman Fouda, PhD, MBBCh. | Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management
Ayman Fouda has been a Research & Teaching Assistant at MCI since 2019 and achieved the title of Associate Professor in 2024. At the MCI Center for Social & Health Innovation, his research focuses on health economics, soft law, health policy, and sustainable healthcare. Students appreciate his ability to make complex content tangible and relatable while drawing interdisciplinary connections. His clear, structured approach to work and his diverse professional experience are seen as a great asset by his students.
Mag. Christine Fritz | Tourism & Leisure Business
Christine Fritz has been teaching Italian at the Department of Tourism & Leisure Business since 2005. She also works as a coach and seminar leader for tourism associations, businesses, and organizations. She brings engaging and practice-oriented content to her students, enriched by lively discussions and real-world insights from the industry. Her motivating approach and ability to address students’ individual needs distinguish Christine Fritz as a valued mentor and lecturer.
