The Academic Council is the central body established by the legislator for academic matters at MCI. Its main tasks include ensuring the quality of teaching and research, setting cross-university academic standards and processes, overseeing internal university appeals, and the continuous development of quality assurance within the institution.
Apart from the two heads, the Academic Council consists of six study program heads and six representatives of the teaching and research staff, each elected by their respective bodies. Additionally, four students are appointed by the elected student representation, ÖH MCI.
After the election of the members of the two bodies within the MCI Academic Council (program heads, research and teaching staff) and the appointment of the four student representatives, the newly constituted MCI Academic Council is legally established as of the beginning of 2025.
Upon the proposal of MCI Rector Andreas Altmann (who holds the legal right to present a list of three candidates from which the Academic Council can choose; alternatively, in the case of reappointment and with the approval of the Academic Council, a simplified procedure can be applied), the executive team has now been (re)appointed.
MCI Rector Andreas Altmann congratulates: “The reappointment of Franz Pegger and Claudia Mössenlechner as heads of the MCI Academic Council is a sign of trust and appreciation for their dedication, competence, and results-oriented approach. It is encouraging that this successful work will continue, helping to drive the further development and global positioning of MCI.”
Franz Pegger and Claudia Mössenlechner emphasize: “We are deeply committed to ensuring the quality of academic teaching and research at MCI, working together with our colleagues to continuously improve it. We are excited to continue in this important role and to help shape the ongoing success of MCI.”
Oswald Wolkenstein, Chairman of the MCI Supervisory Board, says: “Franz Pegger and Claudia Mössenlechner bring incredible dedication, outstanding expertise, and extensive experience, and I am delighted that they will continue to contribute their knowledge to the MCI Academic Council. I wish them and the entire MCI team much success in their important work.”
