On February 6, MCI invited students, teachers, entrepreneurs, and interested guests to the "Insights Lienz" info event at its Lienz campus. With over 200 attendees, the event was fully booked, highlighting the strong interest in the four technical degree programs set to launch in Lienz in the fall of 2025: Mechatronics, Medical, Health & Sports Technology, Environmental, Process & Energy Engineering, and Industrial Engineering & Management.
MCI Rector Andreas Altmann welcomed the audience with a video message from the Yale University library. Visitors had the opportunity to gather information at four dedicated stations about the upcoming technical studies in Lienz. The event was hosted by Hansjörg Jaufenthaler, Site Manager MCI Campus Lienz.
A special highlight was the guest lecture by Christoph Gamper, CEO and co-owner of Durst Group AG, who focused on the key aspects of the MCI technical programs: innovation, technology, and the courage to implement ideas. Gamper, who dedicates time each year to further his education at an international institution, delivered an inspiring presentation on Durst Group’s performance and innovation capabilities.
As an MCI alumnus himself, Gamper encouraged the young audience: "Without MCI, I wouldn’t be standing here today. For us as a regional company, having a local university is not just welcome but essential. Seize this exciting opportunity—go abroad for a semester, experience different cultures, and return with valuable insights to help European companies succeed. We always need well-trained professionals and hope that MCI Campus Lienz graduates will join us."
Site manager Hansjörg Jaufenthaler sees MCI Campus Lienz as an opportunity for both students and local businesses to maintain and expand the region’s innovative strength: "Studying at the MCI Campus Lienz lays the ideal foundation for a career in technology-driven companies or further master’s studies. Local businesses work closely with us as an entrepreneurial university, providing a stepping stone to top-tier jobs in the region."
