A student's perspective after the first two semesters

My first year on the Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management (new in fall 2024: Social, Health & Public Management) study program at MCI was an exciting and enriching experience. For anyone interested in studying in this field, I would like to give you an insight into my everyday life as a student, the course content, and some tips for starting your studies.

MCI is centrally located in the beautiful city of Innsbruck, surrounded by the impressive Alps. If you like sports, you can definitely live it up here. I don't fall into that category myself, but Innsbruck offers so much more than just the Alps, there's something for everyone. For example, I really enjoy the cultural offerings in this city. Not only does the location provide an inspiring learning environment, but there are also numerous activities that enrich the daily student life.

The study program is very diverse and covers a wide range of topics relevant to management in the social sector. In addition, the organization of the courses is particularly appealing, as they are very job-oriented. From business administration to law and political science, the courses are practice-oriented and prepare us for the challenges in these fields.

What makes the MCI truly unique for me is the personal support from the MCI team. From the very beginning, I had the feeling that the staff really cared about each individual student. You are not just a number here, but are perceived and supported as a person. The lecturers are not only professionally competent, but also always ready to help with questions or problems.

I have put together a few tips to help you get the most out of your study:

  • Build up networks: Take advantage of the many opportunities to network with fellow students, lecturers, and professionals from the field. These contacts can help you later on and are very valuable.

  • Pay attention to time management: Especially in your first year, the abundance of new information and tasks can seem a little overwhelming. Good time management will help you to keep an overview and avoid stress.

  • Get involved: Be active and get involved in courses and projects. This not only shows your motivation, but also helps you to better understand and apply what you have learned.

  • Enjoy your free time: Innsbruck offers many opportunities to spend your free time actively. Take advantage of the surroundings for sports, culture, and recreation - this provides a good balance to your studies.

The first year of the Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management (new in fall 2024: Social, Health & Public Management) program at MCI has been very educational for me and I am looking forward to the next semesters. The combination of theoretical knowledge and practical implementation, the unique support, and the great location in Innsbruck make the program an all-round positive experience. If you are interested in this field and want to make a difference, I can only recommend studying at MCI.

"Managing the Public Interest" is the motto of the Social, Health & Public Management program and also the focus of the study. If you don't want to wait for things to change in our society, then be part of the change! You can find information about the program here and on social media. We are always happy to receive applications from passionate people!
