Municipal Climate Protection in Innsbruck: A Talk by Michael Deflorian

On November 12, 2024, from 5 to 6:30 p.m., the Department of Social, Health, & Public Management invites all interested parties to an exciting guest lecture as part of the course "Digital & Green Transformation". In this course, students gain a comprehensive understanding of sustainable societal developments. They learn about sustainable practices and their implementation, particularly in the social and health sectors. Another focus is on digital innovations such as e-health, e-governance, and artificial intelligence. Students analyze potentials and challenges, critically reflecting on the societal impacts of digitalization and AI. Michael Deflorian, Head of the Office for a Climate-Neutral City in Innsbruck, will contribute to the course, sharing his expertise in sustainable urban development, municipal climate protection, and digital transformation with the students.

In his lecture "Municipal Climate Protection: Public Administration Shapes Public Policy", he will address how the systemic transformation required by climate change can be implemented at the local level. Using the city of Innsbruck as an example, Michael Deflorian will provide practical insights into how municipal administrations tackle and shape the challenges of climate protection. Furthermore, the lecture will offer insights on how an organizational unit can be specifically aligned with climate, energy, and circular economy, as well as the internal and external obstacles that need to be overcome.

The lecture presents an excellent opportunity to gain insights into the activities of the city of Innsbruck and actively participate in the discussion about the future of urban climate protection.

Participation is free of charge. We look forward to your attendance and registration at linda.schaar@mci.edu.
