David and Valentin, both MCiT undergraduate students, spent their semester abroad at the University of Technology in Sydney last fall. Looking back, they tell about their great time in Australia:

“Why choosing Sydney for your exchange semester? Because you will get to know many new people and find new friends. You will live in the most malicious places of the world for a half of a year. We want to tell you about our experiences and adventures:

We lived in Yura Mudang, in one of the four student houses of the UTS in the city centre. Just around the corner you don’t just find the Broadway, you will also find many shopping centres, restaurants, more shopping opportunities and bars. There are living around 800 international students in YM, so we would suggest a shared flat (not only due to the party’s ?).

Within 5 minutes of walking you will get to the train station, which takes you everywhere, like the Opera House or Circular Quay, etc. By using public transport, you get to the most beautiful beaches, harbour or attractions within little minutes. As you can guess, the days off will be spent at one of the 100 beaches in Sydney to cool off or for surfing.

The university is very different to the MCI. The lectures are voluntary, however the tutorials are mandatory. Furthermore, the university is focused on academic writing and therefore some assignments might be a challenge. Anyway, you will get into the English language and will recognize your improving and the tasks will get easier, after the adjustment phase. There are some study vacations, which can be used for short trips like Fiji.

As the semester will be completed in October, you will be able to discover other places for the last three months. Very popular destinations are the east coast of Australia, Fiji, Melbourne, New Zealand, Tasmania and other countries nearby as Bali.

Our personal highlights were the life in Sydney, journey to Bali and the road trip along the east coast of Australia. The time spent in Sydney was unforgettable in getting to know new friends, impressions and experiences. Additionally, we will not forget our journey to Bali with good friends as well as the road trip along the east coast.”

A valuable experience for life - MCiT students have the opportunity to spend their 5th semester at one of the many partner universities around the world.
