If you have previously worked for another company, where and in what position?
I was employed at the company Farben Holzbaur as a technician / assistant to the management before, but then I changed to Hofer after about three months.

If you work in the same company, have you been in a different position before?
Initially, I was employed as a Senior IT Professional and was promoted to IT Consultant in 2017. The appointment as Senior IT Professional is similar to that of a project employee. Most of the activities involve working on various national and international projects, planning and executing tests on training courses and releases and supporting the conceptual design of new requirements, changes and functions. Likewise, project responsibility for smaller projects lies within the remit of a senior IT professional. In return, an IT consultant corresponds to the position of a project manager, so the focus of this position is on the management of projects, the leadership of smaller project teams and the supervision of international and national applications in the Aldi Süd Group.

How did you get to your current / past job?
Through a job advertisement in the Tiroler Tageszeitung.

Is there a connection between the MCiT and your job?
Yes, basically the MCI gave me an ideal starting position for my job today. Like the training at MCI, my job is located at the interface between IT and business. It is important to gain some insight into both aspects and pack the desires of the business then into understandable requirements for developers. The basic knowledge in both areas, business and technology, as well as different approaches to project processing with e.g. agile project management methods - I got to know most of it.

Why did you choose MCiT?
At that time, the MCI represented the ideal continuation of my previous training path. Even in the HTL for Industrial Engineering, the training consisted the acquisition of basic knowledge in the areas of economics, computer science and technology, as well as the interfaces between these areas. Except for the field of technology, the management, communication & IT study program includes all areas and enabled me to deepen my previous knowledge or expand.

How did you prepare your studies for your current job?
Due to the individual processes in different companies, it is usually only possible to use the knowledge learned in the course as basic knowledge. The application of the method is always to be adapted to the respective company and its structure, as well as to the processes and procedures that have developed over the years. Due to a practice-oriented education in the course of study exactly this starting position with z. Cooperation projects in individual areas of expertise are made comprehensible. In summary, I would say that studying at MCI conveys practical basic knowledge about the various project management tools and thus makes it easier to start working life.

What makes the MCiT study program unique?
As already noted, the education in the degree program Management, Communication & IT through the wide range of knowledge transfer provides an ideal basis to be able to focus on the most diverse areas of the company in professional life. Basically, a student with this education has many different possibilities. Especially nowadays, it is increasingly important for the various divisions to work together as well as possible and in a process-oriented manner. Exactly in this interface area lies the strength of the education in the course Management, Communication & IT. Not only the knowledge of the basic methods and tools in project management is used, but also the communication- and process-oriented part of the training. In order to optimize an interface area and to make it process-oriented, the holistic process and the processes in the adjacent business areas must be understood as a basis. As soon as the actual situation has been clearly understood as a starting point, possible optimization possibilities can be identified more easily and applied through the knowledge of the internal processes as change management together with the business.

... I like to remember an intense and exciting time in my life where I could learn and take a lot for my future life. Not only on the interesting, broad training at the MCI but also on the "side" aspects and opportunities that have accompanied the study program. An example of this is certainly the International Semester or semester abroad that is possible during your studies at one of the partner universities of the MCI around the globe. I was able to complete this semester in Finland, but as a graduate, I can only recommend such a formative experience to every student.
