What happens when Management, Communication & IT and Digital Business & Software Engineering students travel to Hawai'i to compete with the best university eSports teams in the world?
An adventure between matches, academic challenges, social engagement, and turtles.
Tobias Brzezowsky, student of the master's program of Management, Communication & IT, talks about his unforgettable impressions:
The Academic eSports World Tournament
We competed in popular video games such as “League of Legends”, “Valorant”, and “Rocket League”, facing off against talented teams from universities around the globe.
Beyond gaming, our diverse skill sets were put to the test in academic challenges, including a discussion, a game jam, and a business case competition. Despite facing challenges, such as missing team members and only recently meeting as a group, we are thrilled to share that we achieved an impressive 3rd place!
The tournament wasn't just about competition though. It was an amazing opportunity to connect with peers from other universities, learn about their backgrounds, and explore their unique connections to eSports. Building friendships with people from all corners of the world means having places to visit in the future, which is truly exciting.
We also had the privilege of giving back to the local community by assembling welcome kits for families displaced by the 2023 Lahaina fires, helping them rebuild their lives.
Immersing ourselves in Maui's culture and breathtaking landscape made the experience unforgettable. From the serene beauty of Iao Valley to the stunning Road to Hana and its beaches, we soaked in everything the island had to offer.
We marveled at turtles and whales, were captivated by Maui's ever-changing scenery and shared delicious food with wonderful people.
Overall, this journey exceeded all our expectations. We are deeply grateful for the opportunity to represent MCI and to take part in such a remarkable experience.
