As part of the course "Legal Aspects in Innovation Management" in the Master's Program Management, Communication & IT, 1st semester, a study trip to Brussels takes place every year. However, due to the current COVID regulations, the planned study tour took place virtually this year.
On November 10, 2020 Rene Steiner from the Cybersecurity Department took our students on a virtual tour of the European Commission. On November 11, 2020 the students continued their tour at The Permanent Representation of Austria. The next stop was at The Tepresentation of the Tyrolean government. In the afternoon, Romain Robert from the European Center for Digital Rights gave a lecture on data protection violations and class actions. With Ludmila Georgieva, the students learned about what the EU policy team of Google is working on. On November 12, 2020 the virtual travellers took on the role of a Member of the European Parliament. As part of a business game, amendments to Artifical Intelligence and Robotics were prepared and then voted on in the plenary session. Eva Lichtenberger, former Member of the European Parliament, accompanied the students through this exciting day.
Thanks to the eventful program, the spirit of the European Union was delivered from Brussels to our students’ home!
