Under the slogan "Bridging Sustainability and Digital Innovation", this year's SAP Academic Community Conference DACH took place at Zeppelin University Friedrichshafen on 13-14 September. The conference, which was held in a virtual format, was aimed at professors and lecturers in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland and offered a varied program: In addition to exciting keynotes, the two days of the conference were characterized by didactic, scientific, and practical contributions and discussions about teaching in the context of SAP systems.

At the award ceremony in the plenary session on the second day of the conference, MCI project team member and former Management, Communication & IT Master's student Lukas Heschl, MA, was honored; his conference contribution "Digital Twin - A Case Study on Industry 4.0 in Teaching" won the Best Student Contribution Award of the SAP Academic Community Conference 2021 DACH.

The research paper was written together with the MCiT lecturers Dr. Christian Ploder, Dr. Dietmar Kilian, and Dr. Peter J. Mirski and is the description of a current research project at #OPEXAGILEAUDIT. "The challenge in teaching Industry 4.0 and Augmented Reality is that students have little experience with the topic and many project partners from the field cannot imagine how these technologies can be applied in a meaningful way. That is why we have developed an integrated learning scenario that can also be linked to an ERP system in order to gain initial experience in this area," emphasizes MCI Professor Dr. Christian Ploder.

The entire MCiTeam is pleased together with the award winner and congratulates him warmly on this award! Lukas Heschl, MA, comments: "The Contribution Award was a big surprise for me and I was very pleased about the very good feedback from the jury and the interest of other speakers in the case study. The award is not only for me but for the whole team of the #opexagileaudit research unit. The idea of the Digital Twin from Fischertechnik came about during a visit to the Hanover Trade Fair during my MCiT Master's degree and then continued to develop over coffee with my professor Dr. Christian Ploder. With the resulting Master's thesis, we had created the basis for further development. With the second publication on this topic, we have already mastered the first milestones, but have not yet reached the end. For myself, the leap from student to scientific work brought a lot of experience and joy in sharing the knowledge I had learned."
