The academic department Management, Communication & IT is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. We take a look at the MCiT success story and reveal interesting facts about the academic department, the associated study programs, the research unit and the successful team behind it!

The foundation stone was laid in 2000 when the first proposal was written to establish a new field of study at MCI | The Entrepreneurial School. Two years later, the first cohort of students started in the diploma program "Management and Applied Computer Science". In the course of the Bologna conversion, the name was expanded to "Management, Communication & IT", or MCiT for short, applicable to the bachelor's degree program and the consecutive master's program. Since its founding in 2002, the feedback system between students, faculty, alumni and the business community has led to ongoing and important adaptations in the program. Just recently, the curriculum of the English-language master's program was revised and expanded to include the subject area of digital entrepreneurship. The ongoing adjustments are intended to meet the responsibility that MCI bears as an educational institution for future developments. More than 1,000 graduates have been guided through their studies on this basis over the past two decades.

Head of Department & Studies Peter J. Mirski emphasizes: "Time has passed incredibly quickly. I am very proud that we have been able to shape these truly successful study programs together for such a long time. In our anniversary year, we can look forward to more than 1,000 alumni. With their expertise as sought-after young executives they are able to creatively combine management, communication and IT. The professional fields in IT are constantly changing. Technologies make new and unimagined things possible. Business and corporate structures are being greatly influenced. New, contemporary leadership is being demanded. Therefore, also a very exciting future lies ahead of us!”
