On Friday, March 15, 2019, the MCI-department Business & Management / International Business & Management invited to this year’s Business Friday. Within the last years, this format has evolved to a must-go event for partners and friends of the MCI, who want to exchange and actively discuss current and forward-looking business topics.
This year’s topic of this unique discussion platform followed the maxim “Riding the Digital Revolution”. Together with 180 company representatives, alumni as well as current and prospective students, the top-class guest speakers discussed how companies can use the potential offered by digitalization and what hurdles have to be overcome in order to artistically surf on the digital wave instead of drowning in it.
Inspiring presentations by Univ.-Prof. Dr. Kurt Matzler (professor at the University of Innsbruck), Michael Bredehorn (CEO and co-founder of Swarm Analytics GmbH), Gerald Streng, BSc MSc (MCI lecturer and MCI developer of Holo Stylus), Simon Meinschad (Managing Director of Hollu Systemhygiene GmbH), as well as Dr. Dipl.-Ing. Dipl.-WI Rüdiger Fox (owner and founder of the GCH Institute) highlighted the topic from economic, technical and social perspectives. Lively and stimulating, yet critically reflecting discussions on current developments like artificial intelligence, deep learning, and digital disruptions as well as their effects on our private and professional lives complemented the presentations. A delicious catering sponsored by Handl Tyrol, Eurogast Speckbacher and Roner AG rounded off the Business Friday.
MCI professor Dipl.-Kfm. Bernd Kirschner, Head of the department Business & Management / International Business & Management and initiator of the Business Friday series, did not miss the opportunity to guide through the program and to moderate the plenary discussion. At the end of a stimulating Business Friday Prof. Kirschner stated with satisfaction: “The Business Friday again was a great success. The event kept its promise: an afternoon full of inspiring lectures and a lot of food for thought on the latest developments in the digital era. The passionate discussions during and after the event showed once again that the digital revolution is affecting everyone. I am delighted that we have made a valuable contribution to the ongoing discussions. On behalf of the MCI, I would like to thank all guest speakers and sponsors who made this event possible.”
