Knowledge transfer between university and business practice is an important part of the Bachelor program “Business Administration Online”. For the on-campus session of the course “Language, Culture and Ethics” in November, we have invited Carolin Schönherr, Head of Operational Risk for Capula Investment Management LLP and internationally renowned expert in the field of corporate governance, to discuss the topic of business ethics with our second-year students.
In her inspiring talk, Carolin shared her knowledge and experience on why business ethics is relevant in today’s corporate world, how to identify the root causes of ethical problems and how to create governance systems. In the subsequent case discussion, the students applied the theories they have learned in the course to the case of money laundering at Deutsche Bank. “I am impressed, how enthusiastic and active the students were in this case discussion. It was a pleasure coming to MCI and working with motivated students”, says Carolin.
Maria Rabl, head of studies and lecturer in the “Language, Culture and Ethics” course, is highlighting the benefits of an online study program regarding the involvement of international guest speakers: “One of the great benefits of our online program is that we can invite experts from all over the world. Either they come to Innsbruck during an on-campus session like Carolin or they join us online during one of the MCI WEBINARS like Liezl, who is living in South Africa.” She has invited Liezl Groenewald, president of the Business Ethics Network of Africa, to talk about ethical decision-making in one of the next live MCI WEBINARS.
