BWL Online: Annual review

It’s been a great year 2019

Although we tend to think in terms of semesters rather than calendar years, we want to look back at the year 2019 at BWL Online. During the last year, a lot has happened in teaching, research, and in the daily business of managing our study programs. Just in time for the 5^th birthday of your department, we developed and started a new curriculum for our Bachelor programs.

Here, we have summarized further highlights of the year 2019:

• In 2019, we hosted 70,680 minutes of MCI WEBINARS for our students in the two Bachelor programs Betriebswirtschaft Online / Business Administration Online and the Master program Corporate Governance & Finance Online. If you watched all MCI WEBINAR recordings in a row, you would be busy for the next 49 days. In addition, there were 52 days of on-campus sessions, which our students spent at the MCI in Innsbruck in 2019.
• We are particularly proud of our 85 graduates who completed their Bachelor's or Master's degree at our department in 2019. For our Master program, these were the first graduates ever! By the way, the Bachelor and Master theses of 2019 comprise 1,058,145 words in total.
• We awarded 27 scholarships of excellence to our students in November. It is great how these students not only manage job, family, and other obligations, but also achieve outstanding results in their studies!
• In September, 137 new students started their Bachelor or Master studies at our department. Congratulations, they have already almost completed the first semester!
• Not only did we welcome new students, but also two new team members in 2019: Wendy Farrell and Moritz Mosenhauer have been teaching and researching in our department since this summer, and we are happy to have them. In addition, Eddie Wei joined our team as a visiting professor last spring (and he will continue to teach in our department from Texas).
• And because we are always looking for a reason to eat cake in our team, we used all occasions like birthdays, new team members, student awards etc. to eat at least 17 cakes (in reality probably many more). We prefer to keep quiet about the exact amount of chocolate and coffee we have consumed in 2019.

We would like to thank our students, lecturers, cooperation partners and supporters for the collaboration during this past year and are looking forward to an exciting year 2020.
