The Department actively participates in this year's conference

At the end of September, this year's conference "Responsible Management Education Research" took place at the MCI Campus in Innsbruck. The Department of Business Administration Online participated in the background as well as actively in the offerings and as participants. From supporting the conference planning, moderating a track, two contributions to tracks to developing and offering a workshop.

Support with conference planning
Julia Waldegger (Research Assistant) supported the two organizers, Regina Obexer and Desiree Wieser, in making the conference as sustainable as possible. In doing so, they pursued three goals: Avoid, reduce and offset emissions. For this purpose, they also calculated the carbon footprint of the conference, which they presented to the participants.

Track Moderation
Antje Bierwisch, lecturer for Innovation Management and Corporate Foresight, moderated the track "Responsible Management Meets Future Studies" together with a colleague from the Business School in Bled (Slovenia), Marina Schmitz. This track addressed futures literacy as a key competency for responsible managers and highlighted approaches that foster this competency. Approaches such as trend analysis, strategic foresight and scenario planning, and backcasting were discussed in the context of leadership education.

Presentations in tracks
Martin Dinter (Research Assistant) presented in the track "Teaching and Learning for Responsible Leadership" the study "The Effect of Fragile Self-Esteem on Course Completion in Business Studies", which he co-authored with Moritz Mosenhauer (Lecturer in Behavioral Economics & Finance) and Sandra Grässle (Project Assistant). The three collaborators examined data on the study outcomes of 8,648 students from 16 departments over the course of eleven years. More specifically, they took a closer look at the impact of low self-esteem on higher education degree completion.
Julia Waldegger presented the study, "Assessing Students' Behavioral Intention to Act Ethically: a Proposed Methodology," which she co-authored with Wendy Farrell ( Lecturer in Organizational Development & Human Resource Management) and Regina Obexer ( Head of Center for Responsible Management & Social Impact), in the track "Effectiveness and quality measurement of programs and courses of education for responsible leadership and sustainable development." This track was focused on evaluating the quality and effectiveness of programs and/or courses that aim to develop skills related to responsible leadership and sustainable development. Thus, it was fitting to share the methodology developed with the conference participants and discuss the content presented.

Workshop: Futures Literacy Lab
Antje Bierwisch and Nadin Reinstadler ( Research Assistant) together with Marina Schmitz offered a Futures Literacy Lab on the topic "Futures of Management in Organizations". These FLL are a well-known approach to strengthen the own competence to work with futures (Futures Literacy).
It was very important for the three facilitators to introduce the participants to the possibilities of this approach through their own experience. After the lab, the participants still used the time to discuss the use of a FLL in the higher education sector.
