Welcome to Fulbright Professor Stephanie Raible at the MCI department of Business Administration

Name: Stephanie Raible

Position: Associate Professor at the University of Delaware

Research focus: Entrepreneurial identity, women's entrepreneurship, social entrepreneurship, business/management/entrepreneurship education

Current role: Visiting U.S. Fulbright Professor at MCI, at the department Betriebswirtschaft Online

The Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program supports international academic exchange and research, helping scholars build new partnerships and share their knowledge worldwide. Stephanie Raible will join our department for the coming months. Below, we asked her a few questions regarding her Fulbright professorship.

Why did you choose MCI for your U.S. Fulbright scholar program?

MCI does amazing things in the world. MCI's exceptional work in social innovation and internationalization initially drew me because I knew there would be so much to learn by getting to know the institution better. When I connected with its faculty, I felt we clicked well, and in starting to learn about their programs, courses, and research, I felt like every aspect was exactly what I was hoping for.

What are you looking forward to working on during your time at MCI?

I will teach Social Entrepreneurship in MCI's Summer School in early June and co-teach Innovation, Entrepreneurship & Futures Thinking with Prof. Dr. Antje Bierwisch, UNESCO Chairperson in Futures Capability for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, from April to June. I am very excited to learn from Prof. Dr. Bierwisch during our co-teaching process. It's such a unique opportunity to collaborate with another educator in this way. Generally, teaching at MCI—or in Austria, for that matter—will certainly be a career highlight for me. No matter how experienced we become in our careers, I believe it's important to stretch our skills in new ways, and I feel well positioned to both learn and contribute within the MCI ecosystem.

What opportunities or collaborations within the Austrian research network are you most excited about exploring, and how can others get involved in this exchange of ideas?

MCI has so many pockets of excellence and exciting research activities happening, so it is my goal to explore these potential opportunities in the coming months. To make my work easier though, I highly encourage others in the MCI community to reach out to me any time if I could contribute to their class lecture or research. One thing that I have been working on already with fellow faculty member, Julia Vögele, is a proposal for a women's entrepreneurship event for MCI's Sustainability Week in May. If interested in learning more, please stay tuned for more details or feel free to reach out to me or Julia Vögele directly.

Is there anything you would like to add?

While I had experience living in Germany ten years ago, I had little exposure to Austria during that time. I am so amazed by how beautiful Innsbruck is. At every angle, it is a magical place, and I do not think I will ever get tired of looking up! I feel fortunate to be here.
