On the occasion of St. Joseph's Day, the Tyrolean Chamber of Labour organizes an annual social theme day, the "Josefi Meeting". Numerous representatives from Tyrolean social institutions - including political representatives - come together to discuss problems and gaps in the social network and provide impetus. The Department of Social Work is also actively involved in these meetings. This year, Christina Lienhart, Moritz Reisberger and Lena Rolvering were involved in this process.
This year's Josefi meeting coincided with World Social Work Day, when a large demonstration of the OBDS (Austrian Professional Association of Social Work) took place in Vienna. The OBDS and the Josefi Circle are united by the theme "Together for sustainable change" and the desire to make the importance of Social Work visible. For this reason, Christina Lienhart read out a message of greeting from the OBDS from "East to West" at the Josefi meeting and Lothar Müller read out the response from the Josefi Circle from "West to East" for the demonstration in Vienna.
The focus of this year's Joseph Day was primarily on the topics of psychosocial health and housing shortages. In order to give these issues a "strong voice", the perspective of Tyrolean social institutions is a key factor. A networking conference with partners and key players from practice, politics and science is planned for the fall in order to establish "social issues" as a cross-sectional topic between the resorts. The MCI departments of Social Work and Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management will take part in this.
