BAYER Digital Campus Challenge

Date 2020-05-14

MCI students work on pioneering ideas for digitization in the pharmaceutical industry

As part of their bachelor's seminar, 32 students from the Bio & Food Technology course worked on their ideas for this year's BAYER DIGITAL CAMPUS CHALLENGE. In seven teams, they addressed the question of the extent to which digitalisation could change a pharmaceutical company like BAYER in the coming years. The core topics of the worldwide challenge are Data Science, Machine & Deep Learning and Digital Therapeutics.

The students presented creative and promising concepts. An app for combining skin and weather data, for example, is intended to help them apply sunscreen in a targeted manner. They also developed ideas for various measurement systems, including a system for early detection of multiple sclerosis attacks and a system for simplified measurement of hormone levels.

The teams can continue working on their ideas until the end of October. Then they will compete with over 100 teams from all over the world. A jury from Bayer will evaluate the ideas and make a selection for the second round. The winners will be rewarded with a trip.

The bachelor seminar was led by FH Professor Dr. Christoph Griesbeck (MCI) and Dr. Florian Becke (UnternehmerTUM, Munich). Louis Pruvost (Agorize) and Heiko Schomberg (Bayer) were also involved.

We wish the teams good luck!
