The Biotechnology & Food Engineering degree program at MCI offers a wide range of starting points for dealing with key issues in the fields of biotechnology and food science. For example: How can biotechnological processes be used to develop innovative active ingredients and products? What processes are necessary to produce these active ingredients on an industrial scale? How is food produced and what technological processes are involved? How can the quality of food be tested and what trends are emerging for the food of the future? Last but not least: What diverse applications do algae offer as a raw material?
Students of this study program deal intensively with these and other current issues. It is aimed at people with an interest in science and technology who want to play an active role in shaping social challenges.
In preparation for the program, the MCI offers several opportunities to gain an initial insight into the content covered and, at the same time, to gain a head start for the first year of study.
On the one hand, interested parties can select an online module, register and work independently through the learning materials provided. Each module is divided into stages, which are completed with a short quiz. This allows you to test your knowledge before moving on to the next level. At the end of the selected module there is a final test, the successful completion of which is rewarded with a digital badge. This badge can be used as a creditable achievement for the first year of study when applying for the “Bio- and Food Technology” degree program.
On the other hand, graduates of MCI partner schools, such as HBLFA Rotholz or HTL Kramsach, also have the opportunity to take further courses from the first year of study credited towards their Matura.
This offer provides an excellent opportunity for students to optimally prepare for their studies and to acquire skills in the future-oriented fields of biotechnology and food technology at an early stage.
