The “ES-Challenge” is an annual competition within the course “Embedded Systems”. Groups of students implement their projects and present them in form of a video during the last lecture.

Then the participants themselves choose the winning team. This year, in the bachelor degree program Mechatronics one project, was able to convince the jury – “Rex in the Box”.

“Rex in the Box” is a very popular classic amongst the world of “Embedded System”. The challenge was to breathe new life into the project by using various sensors and actuators. With great motivation and far more hours than estimated by the course, more and more features were added.

A microcontroller from STMicroelectronics was used for the realization of “Rex in the Box”. . Particularly impressive about the project was the attention to detail, the variety of features, and especially that it was carried out entirely by Thomas Wallner.

Congratulations to the winner!
