Mechatronics students win MCI award

With their innovative idea for the new MCI campus, two students of the program Mechatronics win a prize money of EUR 500.—

Several years ago, MCI launched the competition ‘MCIdea4students’ to recognize creative ideas from students that contribute to the further development of the university. This year, they were looking for innovative ideas for the design of the interior spaces as well as the common and meeting areas on the new MCI Campus.

We are particularly pleased that this year two students from the Mechatronics program were able to win this prize:

Stefan Ferge and Johannes Grünwald won over the jury with their idea of seating elements with a PV function for charging mobile devices and e-mobility. At the new MCI Campus, benches with integrated solar cells could be used in the outdoor area to charge smartphones or tablets via USB or induction, for example.

The jury was made up of MCI employees, MCI management and chairpersons of the ÖH MCI. The evaluation criteria were the degree of innovation, the benefit for the MCI and its stakeholders, and the feasibility. The winning idea was rewarded with a prize money of EUR 500!

We would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Stefan Ferge and Johannes Grünwald once again on their great idea and their motivation to contribute to the further development of our university. Congratulations!
