A semester abroad is not only a great personal experience, but also enables future engineers to gain insights into the educational standards of other countries, make international contacts, and develop an understanding of different working methods and cultures.
The MCI Mechatronics department collaborates with numerous partner universities, offering bachelor's students the opportunity to spend their fifth semester abroad. Soon, master's students in Mechatronics – Smart Technologies will also be able to complete their third semester abroad.
Lenard Wild and Stefan Posch are currently studying at the Helsinki Metropolia University of Applied Sciences in Finland, Sebastian Bachlechner at Sungkyunkwan University in South Korea.
In addition to the possibility of a traditional semester abroad, there are also several double degree options in the master's program and the opportunity to apply for a Marshall Plan scholarship to write the thesis at a university in the USA. Mechatronics graduate Philipp Thoma, who successfully completed his master's in the fall of 2024, was awarded one of the few scholarships and worked on his master's thesis in a research team at the renowned Stanford University in California.
In a world where engineers increasingly have to work in an international environment and master global challenges, a semester abroad is a valuable opportunity to prepare for these demands.
