IndustryMeetsMakers 21

Date 2021-04-14

Industry meets Makers is an open innovation community building format that aims to initiate new collaboration models between top industry and the creative maker scene in order to make the resulting innovation and business potential fruitful for the benefit of both sides.

The current core concept essentially consists of top industrial companies, SMEs and research institutions tendering so-called "briefings" in future technology areas such as robotics, AI, 3D printing, Industry 4.0, IoT, Big Data, Blockchain, etc. and inviting innovative "makers" - start-ups, SMEs, freelance developers, designers, students and hobbyists - to solve these together with them as part of an approximately six-month get-to-know-you and co-creation phase. In the desired ideal case, a successful joint follow-up project can be launched after the core term of the programme.

The challenge

The SARS-CoV-2 virus has shaken the global and local community. Millions of people have died or lost their jobs. The impact on mental health problems and Long Covid cannot yet be assessed. Although vaccination programmes have begun, many countries will lag behind due to lack of financial resources. In addition, new virus variants may emerge.Technology can be an important partner in reducing the impact of this global crisis. Infineon Technologies is a global leader in semiconductor solutions that can play an important role in reducing the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection. The recent acquisition of Cypress Semiconductor has significantly strengthened Infineon's portfolio.

It's time to disrupt the spread of the virus. #disruptCOVID

Your mission:

Build a smart home application to reduce the risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Connect a sensor to a microcontroller and optionally a motor controller.

Application ideas:

  • Air purification (iMOTION - Motorcontrol)
  • Automatic soap dispenser (Radar)
  • CO2 alarm (Xensiv PAS CO2 sensor)
  • Physical distance alarm (Radar, Bluetooth)
  • UV-C disinfection lamp (LED driver)
  • Ventilation ((iMOTION - Motorcontrol)
