Mechatronics Day is an annual event held by the Mechatronics Platform. During this event prizes are awarded in the categories "Best Bachelor Thesis", "Best Diploma-/Master Thesis" and "Best Graduate Career". It also provides a good opportunity for people and companies working in the mechatronics sector to get together and exchange ideas.
The Mechatronic Platform was created on December 1, 2005, and is supported by ten Austrian universities. Some of the goals among others are securing Austria as a production location, the increase of the proportion of women in the field of mechatronics, and the promotion of scientific cooperation.

This year there once again was reason for celebration - Stefan Kohlgrüber, graduate of the master's program Mechatronics & Smart Technologies was awarded the prize for the best master's thesis in the field of "Electronic Based Systems" for his thesis on "FPGA-based Control of the Telerobotic Surgical System da Vinci Research Kit". The prize was endowed with 1000 € and was donated by Electronic Components and Systems for European Leadership (ECSEL) - Austria.
