Last week, the winners of this year's UVET Challenge were awarded. Bachelor and master students of the study program Environmental, Process and Energy Engineering and Smart Building Technologies competed again this year in a mathematical-scientific contest.
A total of eight tricky tasks had to be solved throughout the year. These were developed by Werner Stadlmayr and Alexander Dumfort for our students.
This year's winners are:
3rd place: Simon Krismer 2nd place: Ricco Welz 1st place: Hannes Unterhofer
Special thanks also go to the sponsors: SPIEGLTEC GmbH - engineering services, ADLER-Werk Lackfabrik, and Getzner Werkstoffe GmbH.
For all those who would like to join the challenge, here is an example:
Varied tuition fees
The student tuition fees are 363,36 €. If you use the available euro coins and notes* to pay this amount in cash, in how many different ways is this possible? An estimation to 5% is sufficient, an analytical (and exact) solution would of course be more desirable.
* Valid:1, 2, 5, 10, 20 and 50 cent coins, 1 and 2 euro coins, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100, 200 and 500 euro bills
Our students share their experiences and give insights into courses, projects, and student life in the vibrant Alpine city of Innsbruck.
