Moderated by senior lecturer Robert Koglek, MA MSc, the Head of the department Professor Dr. Belachew Gebrewold discussed the topic of "Social work in Africa: Emerging challenges and trends” in a panel discussion with renowned experts. Among them were Professor Antoinette Lombard from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and Dr. Zena Mnasi from the Institute of Social Work in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
The event provided a platform for professionals to discuss important issues such as social justice, participatory approaches, innovative practices in the context of climate change, and the need for Social Work to adapt to new challenges and decolonization in the context of Social Work in Africa.
The program is particularly pleased that the experts were also available for an internal workshop on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), which was aimed at a more in-depth discussion of the SDGs in the department of Social Work.
Our students share their experiences and give insights into courses, projects, and student life in the vibrant Alpine city of Innsbruck.
