As part of the course “Theoretical Approaches to Social Policy”, our students, together with head of department Belachew Gebrewold, had the opportunity to discuss current socio-political challenges and measures with Eva Pawlata, State Councillor for Social Affairs.
The focus was on poverty and affordable housing. LR Pawlata emphasized that the provincial government is working intensively on combating poverty and protecting against homelessness. The “Housing First” approach, which promotes housing as the basis for stabilizing living conditions, was also a key topic. Other points of discussion included minimum income, equality and political influence on state policy. The state councilor praised the commitment of the students and their role in the future of Social Work.
The master's degree program in Social Work, Social Policy & Management prepares students for managerial and coordinating tasks in the non-profit sector and promotes a practice-oriented transfer of knowledge and a close integration of theory and practice through regular cooperation with various institutions.
