Online Guest lecture with MR Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen. ©MCI/Ipfelkofer/Hurm
This spring semester's first guest lecture of the department of Industrial Engineering & Management was held in the beginning of March with the exciting topic "Electricity grids in transition and opportunities within the energy sector". Joining us for the event were Christina Ipfelkofer, Project Manager Trends & Technologies, and Dr. Christian Hurm, Head of Trends & Technologies, from Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH. During the lecture, they gave our students a comprehensive insight into the energy transition and an overview of how complex the interrelationships actually are. They used examples to explain potential consequences if the climate balance continuously gets worse. Furthermore, they discussed some positive developments, which still need to be further expanded worldwide.

The headquartera are in Regensburg, the company MR is not only active worldwide, they are also the world market leader in the switching of transformers. In the now 150 years of the company’s history, the family business has made its mark in the field of power engineering. Above all, they became known for the on-load tap-changer, which is still being built today as it was 70 years ago. About 90% of the production is in Germany.
