HELLA, partner company of the dual bachelor study program "Smart Building Technologies" and Austria's market leader for sun, light and weather protection systems, equipped Slovakia's tallest skyscraper with textile outdoor shading. Upon completion of the Eurovea Tower in Bratislava, 4,600 vertical awnings from HELLA will have been installed.
The skyline on the waterfront of Bratislava gets a new addition: the 168 meter high Eurovea Tower. HELLA, headquartered in Abfaltersbach, East Tyrol, has been producing textile outdoor shading systems for the Eurovea Tower since summer 2021. When the building is completed, 4,600 vertical awnings from HELLA will have been installed.
"The sunshade systems were installed in stages as construction progressed. Each week, we delivered around 100 pieces of textile sun protection systems to Bratislava from our plant in Werne in Germany. At the moment, we're equipping the last floor of the building with sun protection. The installation took one and a half years in total", explains Andreas Kraler, managing partner of the HELLA Group.

Large glass fronts make sun protection indispensable and future-oriented construction does not work without shading and darkening systems. Due to the large window areas as well as the height and wind-exposed location of the Eurovea Tower, vertical awnings with side seam guide are ideally suited for exterior shading. By anchoring the fabric by means of a "zipper", the fabric is guided in the guide rail inside the facade. This type of awnings are extremely stable in strong winds. They also provide heat and glare protection.
At 168 meters, the Eurovea Tower is the tallest building in Slovakia. Its 46 floors will be home to over 400 apartments and a large shopping center. The building will be completed and ready for occupancy towards the end of 2023. "HELLA is represented in nine European countries with our own subsidiaries and also operates internationally by means of exports. Our sun shading products can be found all around the globe! In addition to the Eurovea Tower, we have equipped many major international projects such as Bishopsgate in London, Mount Street in Sydney, the residential high-rise Schneewittchen or the wood hybrid high-rise HoHo in Vienna," explains Kraler. HELLA has been represented in Slovakia by a subsidiary since 2004.
