Awarding Scholarship of Excellence

Date 2024-12-17

We are delighted with the outstanding academic achievements of the students and graduates of the Department of Business & Management

The Scholarship of Excellence under the Student Support Act (StudFG) recognizes outstanding academic achievements and is awarded once a year to students and graduates. For this purpose, the Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research has allocated €33,000 to our Department of Business & Management, which includes the bachelor's programs Business & Management for Professionals and Business & Management as well as the master's program International Business & Management.

A total of 110 students and graduates applied. We are delighted to celebrate with the 44 individuals who will receive €750 credited to their accounts in the coming days. €750 is slightly more than the tuition fees for one year, so one might say that the newly honored students and graduates had a "free" year of study – but certainly not one without value.

The scholarship considers all achievements completed during the 2023/2024 academic year. This means that all 60 ECTS credits included in the curriculum for the winter semester 2023/2024 and summer semester 2024 must be successfully completed.

What are the requirements for receiving such a Scholarship of Excellence?

  • Adherence to the maximum eligibility duration (§18 StudFG) for the respective study phase (regular enrollment in the final academic year of the program), considering any valid reasons for an extension (§19 StudFG).
  • Possession of Austrian citizenship or equivalent status under §4 StudFG. Students with equivalent status include:
    • Citizens of EEA member states.
    • Third-country nationals who have already been residing "continuously and lawfully" in Austria for an extended period (long-term residence permit).
    • Stateless individuals, provided the student and a parent were both subject to unlimited income tax in Austria for at least five years prior to the start of studies (submission of a copy of the social security report and registration certificate required).
    • Convention refugees, provided their refugee status is verified (passport, official decision).
  • A grade point average of no worse than 2.0 (weighted by ECTS) for the grades used to determine eligibility for the scholarship in the past academic year.
  • In the case of a completed master’s or bachelor’s degree, the final examination must have been passed with “distinction” or “good success” (this criterion applies only to graduating students).

We are thrilled to celebrate the top-performing students of our department and their exceptional academic achievements. They are outstanding ambassadors of our three study programs. Through the knowledge they contribute to their studies and share beyond the program, they inspire curiosity and foster enthusiasm for studying with us among talented and motivated peers. Whether in the bachelor's programs Business & Management or Business & Management for Professionals, or in the master’s program International Business & Management, our students bring energy and excitement to our academic community.

With students and graduates as fantastic as these, studying and teaching at the Department of Business & Management is a true pleasure – not only for their fellow students but also for the faculty.
