As part of the Event Management course, the 3rd semester BA students visited Schladming with lecturer Wolfram Auer to get an insight into the destination and its events.
After a 3.5-hour bus ride, the 70 students were welcomed at the WM Studio Planai. In addition to the managing director Mathias Schattleitner, who after introductory facts about the region informed them about various events, the managing director Georg Bliem also gave an insight into the Planai railway, which not only has the quality seal "Best Austrian Summer Mountain Railway", but is also home to 60 themed mountains with various experience specialisations.
To experience the region in real life, the students took the gondola to the Hochwurzen mountain station, where they found out more about the destination. After a snack at the Hochwurzen lodge, the students were supposed go down the mountain on mountain go-karts, but due to the weather, they had to take the gondola.
Now, following the excursion, the students are working in small groups to develop both winter and summer events for the Schladming-Dachstein destination, which will be evaluated and awarded in December as part of the presentation to a jury of experts (as well as the destination partner). The winners will not only receive prizes, but the destination will also consider the implementation of the event and, if possible, include it in the event portfolio.
