Hi, my name is Eva and I am currently spending my semester abroad at the University of Guelph in Canada.
Guelph is a small town located one hour west of Toronto, which is why I get to visit this beautiful city quite often. Apart from that, I’ve already been on several trips, for example to the Niagara Falls, to Montréal and to a huge Nationalpark in order to witness the Indian Summer. I even went to the east coast of Canada during our Thanksgiving break.
Although the workload can get higher during the semester, there is still enough time to travel and enjoy life to its fullest. Even during a normal week with classes and studying going on, there are lots of activities to do for fun. Several sport games to watch, including ice hockey, football, basketball etc. The spirit there is unique. There is also a gym membership for only 50$ a semester which I think is a really nice benefit as well. Together with some friends, I play squash once a week, go to yoga classes, swimming or do any other kind of sport!
So, to everyone out there considering spending a semester abroad, particularly in Canada: just do it. It is a once in a lifetime experience and you will make unforgettable memories. You will meet so many awesome people and let me tell you, Canadians are the friendliest people I’ve ever met. And of course, you will never get tired of Canada‘s amazing nature.
