Study Tour - part III - Las Vegas

Date 2022-12-20

Viva Las Vegas!

The last stop of the International Study Program 2022 was Las Vegas. There, one of the main activities were the visits to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and the Institute for Gaming Innovation. The visits focused on the topic "Entrepreneurship & Tourism in Las Vegas" with lectures by Prof. Green and Prof. Belarmino on the history and tourism development of the city. Laurea Clifford from the Las Vegas Convention Center explained with facts and figures that Las Vegas is the destination for congresses and large sporting events in the USA. The students also visited the newly built "Circa" Hotel and got a look behind the scenes in hotel and casino management.

In addition to visiting the sights and hotels along the tourist center of the city - the "Las Vegas Strip" - the students explored "Fremont Street" and Las Vegas Downtown. They experienced the development of Las Vegas from a small desert town to "Sin City" to an entertainment and convention center and saw how tourist destinations redevelop and transform themselves through constant innovation. The big finale of the Study Program 2022 was a joint visit to the Cirque du Soleil show "O" at the legendary Bellagio Hotel.

Through the integrative teaching concept of the International Study Program 2022, the students gained insights into international tourism management and tourism marketing outside the lecture room. They were able to further strengthen and develop necessary key competences such as entrepreneurial thinking, creative problem-solving and intercultural skills. In conclusion, the Study Tour 2022 is a great enrichment not only for the personal development but especially for the learning experience of our Master's students.
