BAO Insights: New Office Management

Date 2024-04-05

An interview with Katrin Marie Künz

A new face at Business Administration Online! If you call our department, chances are that our new office manager picks up the phone. Katrin Künz will be supporting Katharina Mitterbacher and Daniel Schroll with their office tasks. She will be the contact person for our cohort starting the new master’s program in September 2024 and for all other questions from current and prospective students. We are delighted to have her join our team. For you to get to know Katrin a little bit better, we asked her a few questions.

You are not new to MCI. What did you do before you started your new position?

I already knew some departments and employees via my sister, who has been working for a long time at MCI. I always thought of MCI as a very interesting employer, but before I started at MCI I was an assistant at the Medical University Innsbruck (MUI). I was responsible for supervising the PhD programs. I did this until the birth of my son and after the first year of maternity leave, I realized that I would like to return to work earlier. At that time, I could only work evenings and weekends - so I ended up on evening duty at MCI's info desk and very quickly realized that I would like to stay at MCI.

What are you looking forward to most in your new job?

My new team, my new area of responsibility, and a quiet workplace - and especially working with the students, as I really enjoyed that in my previous job, too.

What are you responsible for in your new job?

I will be in charge of the new online master's degree program in Business Psychology & Management, and I will support the students from the admissions process and the ongoing studies to graduation.

What do you like to do most in your free time?

I prefer to spend my free time with my son, with whom there is never a dull moment (the saying "having a toddler is like using a blender without a lid" is completely true, by the way). I love reading, cooking and am currently learning to play the ukulele. To switch off and have some time for myself, I go to the gym several times a week and enjoy spending time with my family.

How would your friends and family describe you?

I am the calming influence for my (very loud and fun-loving) family members. They would definitely describe me as a good listener and problem solver and praise my angelic patience - I get a lot of positive feedback for my calmness and unshakeable optimism. I'm generally a rather quiet person and don't feel too comfortable in large, loud groups, so I prefer to meet up with my friends for a cozy get-together after work. Other than that, I'm particularly passionate about cake, which has already spread around the MCI.

What's a fun fact about you that people might not know/expect?

My favorite place to go shopping is the hardware store. As I'm very interested in crafts and technology, I always try to repair everything myself. As a result, I now have an impressive collection of tools and DIY equipment that I'm very proud of (unfortunately, my neighbors aren't always happy about my DIY enthusiasm).
