Fun & Games: Media Camp 2024 in partnership with Metagame

Management, Communication & IT bachelor’s students immerse themselves in the world of eSports

For the fourth-semester students of our Management, Communication & IT bachelor's degree program, this year's Media Camp was all about eSports. The collaboration partner for the multi-day block event was Metagame. The motto of the course: Create a Concept - Pitch an Idea - Go Live.

The students were presented with the following challenge:

There were two groups, each of which developed a concept for a university eSports team for “League of Legends”. This included the areas of: Project Management/Organization, Marketing/Communication, Financing, Technical Infrastructure.

As a result, a test game event had to be planned, organized and implemented for all active students of the two study programs Management, Communication & IT and Digital Business & Software Engineering. All interested parties competed against each other in a competitive game. Metagame accompanied this process with player coaching.

The all-important pitch was won by the team “Goas Gaming”.

Outcome and outlook: The team was actually initiated. It is currently running in shadow mode and competes in a company cup against PWC, Otto, etc., for example, and is doing well. Registration for the Uni-League is currently underway and the team should be officially playing in the league from the fall. The players are, of course, our students.

MCI Professor Dr. Aleksander Groth adds: “Anyone who wants to play eSports is welcome to join us! The aim is to play together as a team and, above all, have fun - no matter how good you are. Anyone interested is welcome to get in touch with me.”

This year's Mediacamp was a complete success for everyone involved. We would like to take this opportunity to thank our cooperation partner Metagame. We are keeping our fingers crossed for the future plans in the Uni-League.
