Tourism master's students visit Entrepreneurship Summit Berlin | Exciting keynotes and panel discussions about founding a business and start-ups | 42 master's students travel to Berlin

In the course of Professor Dr. Christoph Engl's course "Introduction to Entrepreneurship", 42 students of the master's program Entrepreneurship & Tourism took part in the Entrepreneurship Summit 2021 in Berlin.

The congress, which takes place at the Freie Universität Berlin, offers students new insights into the world of founding from the perspective of successful founders and enables an active exchange with those interested in founding through exciting panel discussions. In addition, a variety of high-ranking keynote speakers inspires with current topics, such as the progressive mayor of Tübingen, Boris Palmer.

The joint bus trip to the congress allowed our first-semester master's students to get to know each other for the first time and provided the necessary space to work out and research tourism concepts and attractions of Berlin. After the exhausting and due to traffic long journey, the evening was concluded with a cosy "get together".

The following day, the students focused on gaining insights into Berlin's touristic and historical development. Together, the most important historical places and attractions in Berlin were visited and presented by the students themselves. Whether the Brandenburg Gate, the Platz der Republik, the Holocaust Memorial or the Hotel Adlon, the tourism students showed motivation as well as commitment and were able to demonstrate their acquired knowledge.

As a highlight of the study trip, the master's students visited the Entrepreneurship Summit 2021 and spent two exciting days at the Freie Universität Berlin. In the spirit of transformation, transparency and offensive, they worked together on solutions for a more social and sustainable future, discussed topics such as social innovation and philosophized about opportunities for entrepreneurs.

Particularly exciting were impulses from, for example, Dr Juliane Kronen, founder of innatura gGmbH, on the ecological and social benefits of product philanthropy, or from Prof. Tania Singer, Head of the Laboratory for Social Neuroscience of the Max Planck Society in Berlin, on the connection between neuroscience and economics. The students were activated to think differently and were able to immerse themselves in the world of young, motivated entrepreneurs and to take a look in the direction of possibilities, approaches and opportunities.

Overall, the master's students were able to immerse themselves in the world of entrepreneurship and make a small contribution to innovation, transformation and change. By attending the summit in Berlin, entrepreneurship became tangible and the tourism students could experience entrepreneurial thinking in a very practical way.
