The Climate Alliance Tyrol supports event organizers with free, comprehensive advice in the areas of waste, mobility, catering, energy, and social aspects. If sufficient criteria are met in the organization of events, they receive an award from the state of Tyrol: GREEN EVENT TIROL basic for beginners, GREEN EVENT TIROL for the experienced, and GREEN EVENT TIROL star for professionals. Last year, a new record was set, with a total of 220 events advised and certified in various categories by the initiative "Green Events Tirol" of the Climate Alliance Tyrol and the Environmental Association Tirol, with the support of the state of Tyrol.
In mid February, 30 green events, project partners and event locations were honored at a special celebratory event at the Landhaus in Innsbruck, which marked the 10 year anniversary of the Green Events Tirol initiative and highlighted the increasing commitment to more sustainability on the side of a diverse range of event organisers. The MCI Symposium "A Chance to Change - Successfully shaping changes in the nonprofit, social, and health sector" which took place from February 13-15, 2023 and was organized by the Department Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management was one of the award recipients who was honored at the event. Climate Alliance Tyrol Chairman LR René Zumtobel and Managing Director Andrä Stigger warmly congratulated the organisers of the MCI event, who were represented by Renate Windbichler and Sandra Köll. This year's symposium, themed "Work in Transition: Trends and Strategies for the Future", will also be organized as a Green Event Tirol.
Regina Obexer, Head of the MCI Climate Team and Center for Responsible Management & Social Impact, is delighted with the winners: "The efforts of the Department Nonprofit, Social & Health Care Management impressively demonstrate that it is possible to organize events in an environmentally friendly manner while providing high-quality experiences. I warmly congratulate them on this award, which sets an example for environmental protection and sustainability at MCI and at the same time serves as inspiration for others."
