The City
Aarhus is with approx. 300,000 inhabitants the second largest city in Denmark. The principal port of Denmark, it is situated on the east side of the peninsula of Jutland in the geographical center of Denmark. The harbor is one of the largest industrial harbors in Northern Europe and the largest in Denmark. The facilities are very modern and handle approximately 12 million tonnes of cargo and are, therefore, among the 100 biggest containerports in the world. Much agricultural produce is exported, while coal and iron constitute among the chief imports.
The region is a major producer of agricultural products with many large farms in the outlying districts. Cattle, pork and grain are the main products with a sizable related refinement industry present. Computer and technology heavy industries are mainly focused in the urban areas with an abundance of small and medium sized IT and service companies dotting the city center.
The University
The College is an integrated part of town and attracts students locally, nationally and internationally. The College, which has roots back to 1915, is a self-owning institution and its studies are financed by the state. It has approx. 1,500 students and 150 academic technical and administrative staff.
The College is perfectly situated - close to downtown Aarhus and near the beach and the forests that surround the city. "We welcome students and visitors from all over the world to help us create an international learning environment and share their ideas and experience with us."
