The City of San José is the economic, cultural and political center of Silicon Valley, and the largest city in Northern California with a population of approximately 1,030,000 inhabitants.
Over the last decades, San José and the rest of Silicon Valley have become the global center for the high tech and internet industries, making it California's fastest-growing economy. Major global tech companies including Cisco Systems, eBay, Adobe Systems, PayPal, Samsung, Acer and Hewlett Packard Enterprise maintain their headquarters in San José. Therefore, the city's nickname is "Capital of Silicon Valley".

The University


San José State University (SJSU) is a public university in San Jose, California, being the oldest public university on the West Coast. It is the founding campus of the Califor-nia State University (CSU) system.
Located in downtown San Jose, the SJSU main campus is situated on 154 acres (62 ha) and consists of approximately 55 buildings. SJSU offers 145 bachelor's and master's degrees as well as four doctoral degrees.
SJSU is consistently listed as one of the leading suppliers of undergraduate and gradu-ate alumni to Silicon Valley technology firms, among which Apple Inc.
