Admission Requirements

In the course of the application process, MCI will verify your documents and check whether the admission requirements of the respective course are met. The following criteria apply:

Applying for a Bachelor's program - Studying with School Leaving Certificate (Matura)

The program accepts individuals with a higher education entrance qualification (Matura, Abitur, relevant vocational qualification, or other school leaving certificate that allows them to matriculate at a higher education institution and study).

Prospective students are not required to have completed the school leaving examination by the time of application. In the case of admission, the relevant certificate may be handed in later. Please include the most recent certificate in your application.

Applying for a Bachelor's program - Studying without School Leaving Certificate (Matura)

Applicants without higher education entrance qualification may be admitted to MCI if they

  • successfully complete the higher education entrance examination or

  • provide proof of relevant vocational training and successfully complete additional examinations at MCI.

Higher education entrance examination

In general, applicants are eligible for admission to study at MCI if they have completed the higher education entrance examination in subjects corresponding to the subjects required by the respective course of study. The higher education entrance examination may be taken, for example, at the University of Innsbruck.

For questions regarding the subjects required for admission to your desired course of study and the higher education entrance examination, please contact us by email at beratung@mci.edu.

Relevant vocational qualification & additional examinations

Applicants with a relevant professional qualification, such as a certificate of apprenticeship, master craftsman certificate, or advanced technical certificate, may be admitted if they successfully complete additional examinations in German, English, Mathematics, and Physics. Applicants without higher education entrance qualification are required to take the additional examinations.

Applying for a Master's program

Admission to a Master’s program requires a relevant Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent from an accredited institution. Further information can be found on the respective subpages of the Master's program under "Admission".

Applicants without Austrian citizenship

Special regulations apply to applicants who do not hold Austrian citizenship. Please consider our

Upon completion of the admission procedure

Once the admission procedure has been completed, we will assess your results. These will be communicated to you within about two weeks of the conclusion of the application process.

Allocation of study places

Please note that there are several application deadlines for each academic year. After the completion of each application round, the highest ranked applicants will be admitted to their desired course of study.
Applicants who are not among the highest ranked but still performed well in the application process, will be given a place on the waiting list. Should one of the admitted applicants not accept the study place offered to him or her, you will advance on the list, which may take until the first week of the respective semester.

Contract of Study

When a student is accepted, a Contract of Study is concluded, which stipulates the relationship between MCI and the student. At the core of the contract is the definition of the rights and obligations of both parties, e.g.

  • Teaching of degree courses in accordance with existing legal provisions

  • Provisions of required basic conditions, resources, teaching staff, etc.

  • Active contribution to education

  • Ensuring attendance

  • Respecting exam regulations

  • Completion of an internship

Moreover, the Contract of Study contains information and rules regarding academic degree, specializations/elective modules etc., interruption of studies, tuition fees, cancellation of the contract including examples of possible reasons for cancellation, terms and conditions, house rules etc.

Tuition fee

The tuition fee for beginning students from the EU, EEA, and Switzerland is 363,36 euros per semester. Non-EU students have to pay 7,000 euros tuition per semester in a Bachelor’s program and 7,000 euros per semester in a Master’s program.

First instalment

Upon admission to your course of choice, you will be charged 726.72 euros when having a citizenship in the EU/EEA or Switzerland, and 14,000 euros for a bachelor's program or, respectively, 14,000 euros for a master's program when having a citizenship in other countries.
This amount corresponds to the tuition fees for the first year of study and is to be paid as a first instalment. It will be counted towards your tuition for the first two semesters once you have commenced with your studies. Additionally, a membership fee for the Austrian Student Union of 24,70 euros per semester will be charged.

MCI is committed to creating a framework which provides applicants with disabilities an equal opportunity in the application for admission to MCI.

Applicants with special needs are encouraged to contact us and request accommodations for their participation in the application procedure or studies. We are happy to answer any questions relating to accessibility and diversity and to provide support.
