Electronic Design Engineer, Leica Geosystems
Study Program: Mechatronics & Smart Technologies (Master)
When I look back at my time at MCI...
... I remember an exhausting but very enjoyable time, during which I was able to expand my knowledge in depth, in a city, which has something to offer for everyone, also off campus.
How did your studies at MCI prepare you for your current job?
In my current position, I deal with highly complex systems on which co-workers from a wide variety of professional fields work together. Mechatronics as a combination of the fields of electronics / electrical engineering, information systems, control engineering and mechanics helps to look at the whole project more from a system’s perspective and to better understand and solve interdisciplinary problems.
What would you tell someone who is considering studying at MCI?
Starting with the basics, the Mechatronics program teaches knowledge in several disciplines. The division into an electrical engineering and a mechanical engineering branch makes it possible for students to specialize in their field of interest. In addition to the classic lectures, the study program emphasizes a high practical component in the form of laboratories and projects as well as supplementary lectures in areas such as project management or leadership. Due to the international orientation, exchange semesters and double degree programs are also possible, depending on the curriculum of the foreign universities. Furthermore, many lecturers are very well connected with companies and universities from all over the world. With the right ambition, curiosity and motivation, the world is waiting for you.
Our students share their experiences and give insights into courses, projects, and student life in the vibrant Alpine city of Innsbruck.
